「南京大虐殺」は、ほんの数人の証言、それも日本軍と敵対していた人々の証言で事実に仕立て上げられた嘘の歴史である。
最初に日本の“虐殺"を報じたジャーナリストは、中国国民党の顧問であった中国系アメリカ人のアイリス・チャンによって書かれた『ザ・レイプ・オブ・南京』(1997年に発刊)である。中国側の一方的な証言だけで書かれており、使われている写真も信憑性が薄いと指摘されている。しかし、米中での反響は大きく、「南京大虐殺は、日本軍による忘れられたホロコースト」として広 まった。精神病になった彼女は2004年11月9日に自殺した。
東京裁判で、日本の「南京大虐殺」を証言したアメリカ人牧師は、「実際に、虐殺の現場を見たのか」と問われ、「実際に目撃したのは、日本兵の制止を振り切って逃げた中国人が射殺された1件だけだ」と述べている。
